The story behind the experience
As part of an initiative to promote respect for nature, the National Capital Commission wanted to create a fun, family-friendly activity to help visitors learn the best practices for enjoying Gatineau Park’s trails responsibly.
The challenge: to offer an engaging experience for families without relying on overly moralizing signage. And so The Great Adventure of Little Rock was born, a charming character who invites kids and adults alike to reflect on how their actions impact wildlife, plant life… and their own safety!
Through an immersive narrative world and interactive games accessible via a mobile app, visitors are encouraged to observe, listen, learn, and take action, while having fun at every station.
Their business goals:

The result: The Great Adventure of Little Rock
The Great Adventure of Little Rock is a playful, interactive quest offered in Gatineau Park, accessible through our mobile app. Visitors can enjoy two complementary games: one focused on wildlife, the other on the park’s plant life.
Each game takes the form of a story-driven quest where users help Petite Roche make sense of her surroundings by observing illustrated panels, identifying sounds, and spotting objects or behaviors that need correcting.
Through a smart mix of matching games, active listening, observation, and critical thinking, participants learn the right habits to adopt in the forest, like picking up waste, avoiding feeding animals, and recognizing harmful or invasive plants, all while enjoying an engaging, accessible adventure.
The quest is self-guided, free, and designed to remain in place for multiple seasons, making it a long-lasting tool for learning through play.
